Sorry to hear Jonathan Williams has passed away.
[1929 - 2008].
Much admired master of the wicked joke and great collector of the public word & image.

Serious & funny tangle: who credits serious artists with humour? who credits funny artists with seriousness?

Way back early in 1983 Judi & I trekked from New York to Albuquerque to visit Robert Creeley. Lunched with him & Jonathan Williams & Thomas Meyer, who were passing thru. & owner of local independent bookshop whose name escapes me. Don't remember a thing about what was said, but it was certainly a pleasure.

Feeling sad for Thomas.
